The end of March marks the end of Women's History Month - but that doesn't mean we have stop talking about iconic women.
Inspirational female figures have been a central point of conversation for us this month, with Mother’s Day, International Women’s Day and the release of Ridley’s Games’ Inspirational Women’s range. Learning about these incredible women and their achievements has left us feeling truly empowered, and has provided a sense of relief in these confusing times.
We think it’s really important that we all continue to recognise and take strength from powerful women in the weeks and months to come. So, we’ve come up with some female-inspired virtual events that you can host for your friends, anytime, anywhere.
Enjoy & stay strong!
Launch a virtual book club
Meet up virtually every month to discuss books written by some of your favourite female authors. Come up with a small list of books, perhaps, two or three to start with, and pick one for everyone to complete in the month.
Use an app like Skype, Zoom, Microsoft Teams, Whatsapp or even House Party to discuss!
If you’re looking for inspiration, here’s a list of our all-time favourite female authors: Margaret Atwood; Maya Angelou; Enid Blyton; Sally Rooney; JK Rowling; Susan Sontag & Mary Shelly.
Host a virtual movie night
Set one day per week with your friends to watch a film directed/written by a woman! Set up a group chat where you can react to the film together and settle down with some popcorn. You can take turns in choosing the film - there's a wide variety of genres to choose from, so everyone should be happy. If you and your friends have Netflix, why not try Netflix Party, an app with a chat feature that synchronises video playback!
Here’s our list: American Psycho (Mary Harron); Clueless (Amy Heckerling); Winter’s Bone (Debra Granik); When Harry Met Sally (Nora Ephron) & We Need to Talk about Kevin (Lynne Ramsay).
Host an online quiz night
Host a quiz night geared towards women! Follow the current trend of virtual pub quizzes and make one of your own for you and your closest friends. You can use our beautifully illustrated Inspirational Women's Trivia Quiz, or simply compile a list of your own questions to test your friends with.
Here’s one from our Inspirational Women’s Trivia to get you started…
Which was Adele’s first number one single?
Create a power playlist
Compile a playlist of your favourite female musicians to help you power through the day! Get your friends to chip in and add songs to the list. You can tune in to the playlist on Spotify whenever you like - hearing all your friend’s favourite songs will help you all feel connected!
We've found that having a great playlist really helps when working remotely – especially when it’s led by incredible female vocals. We’re currently putting one together with a large variety of singers: Florence Welch, Joanna Newsom, Amy Winehouse, Lana Del Ray, Agnes Obel and more!
Check out our Inspirational Women's Puzzle!
Put our beautiful Inspirational Women's Puzzle on your wishlist and get ready to learn loads of interesting facts about the world's most inspirational women! You’ll find many more female idols to talk about after the puzzle.
